"The epidemic is the command, and prevention and control are our responsibility." Since the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pandemic, it has been a concern for the entire nation. People from all walks of life across the country have actively engaged in the battle against the pandemic, working together in collective prevention and control efforts to overcome the difficulties. In this spring of anti-pandemic unity, we stand together as one.
Especially in times like these, we have an undeniable responsibility and should bravely shoulder the burden.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic, there has been a huge demand for protective equipment such as masks, disinfectants, and protective suits among the public and healthcare workers. In response to this situation, the advantages of import and export enterprises have become evident. Under the unified arrangement and deployment of the municipal party committee and government, the Municipal Bureau of Commerce actively organized the development of foreign sources of goods. They comprehensively reviewed the import mask enterprises in our city, conducted individual assessments, and mobilized various forces, including foreign trade enterprises and associations, to actively communicate with other countries to find sources of various epidemic prevention supplies, including medical masks. Shandong Harbor Central Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. had an undeniable responsibility and bravely shouldered the burden.
Upon receiving this important task, the company immediately convened a telephone conference with the middle-level management personnel during the holidays. The Harbor Central Anti-epidemic Special Team was established and went to the front line. This team consisted of passionate young individuals from Harbor Central, our party branch's backbone members, and volunteers from our Harbor Micro Charity. They have their own jobs, families, and interests. Some of them even have infants at home. During the holidays, they willingly and actively devoted themselves to the responsibility of bravely shouldering the burden.
There was no complaint, no slack, just a burning passion!
In times like these, it becomes even more important to ensure timeliness and take proactive actions.
"Fast, accurate, and resolute" is our guiding principle, and taking proactive action is our hallmark. As soon as the special team was established, communication took place at all levels of our business, and we proactively reached out to our overseas clients. Despite the time zone differences with our clients, no one complained, and everyone worked until the early hours of the morning. Each time we received information that goods were available from different countries, we were ecstatic, and we shared it within the team immediately.
Swiftly, with the combined efforts of our business, procurement, and documentation personnel, we procured a batch of over fourteen thousand masks from Malaysia and successfully cleared customs. These masks were donated to local medical institutions through the district's Red Cross. Additionally, we were entrusted by the municipal government to source 10-20 million masks. Unfortunately, at the outset, we could only procure 700-800 thousand masks from India. However, recently, our company advanced the funds for procurement, securing masks at a price at least two times lower than the market price. This was achieved with the support and assistance of a patriotic overseas Chinese citizen in Malaysia. Love knows no borders. On behalf of our company, I would like to express sincere gratitude to the caring medical staff and the public, as well as their trust in our company!
Our company goes beyond this; we are always ready to assist the Municipal Bureau of Commerce, the Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the Qingdao Blue Sky Rescue Team in importing various medical supplies free of charge. Currently, we have imported three batches of protective suits from South Korea, with the first batch of 3,000 sets already delivered. The second and third batches will follow soon. Another batch of disinfectant has cleared customs and is ready for distribution. Simultaneously, we are actively preparing and coordinating the import of German supplies for the district's epidemic prevention command center. More is on the way.
In the face of the nation's difficulties, the passionate young individuals at Harbor Central, we are duty-bound. Please believe that we, at Harbor Central, are always in action on the path of pandemic prevention.
In times like these, it's even more important for us to unite and work together.
There's a saying that has circulated on the internet: "There is no peaceful time; it's just that some people are carrying heavy burdens while moving forward." In this war without gunshots, we should come together and work as one. Various industries and sectors have made efforts, coordinating with each other, helping one another, and showing solidarity. They have facilitated a more convenient "green channel" for the transportation of pandemic prevention materials, ensuring that these materials reach the frontlines as quickly as possible and providing crucial support for those on the frontlines.
Here, we also extend the highest respect to the frontline heroes, the most beautiful "reverse warriors." You are racing against time to save lives and carrying heavy burdens. We will continuously strive to provide you with the best support. As long as we maintain our unwavering confidence and work together, we will surely emerge victorious!
